The next Lompoc Interfaith Meeting will take place on Tuesday, October 24th -- noon -- at First Christian Church (College and V in Lompoc). This is a brown bag lunch, so bring something to eat and come and share in dialogue.
This month, with the election just days away, we will look at the relationship of religion and politics -- sharing how our different traditions approach this issue, which has proven contentious and divisive within communities and within religious communities.
If you're planning to come, please RSVP to lompocdisciples@impulse.net

This will be my last impartation as I am certain my words fall upon those with determined minds in position and stance. When we are right it is rare and even when we are right we realized the vastness of that which we do not know. Assessment of the issues, individual candidates is not causing contention and division amongst the religious and secular community in this region. However to state such will allow you to move into the role of peacemaker nd unifier. "Blessed are the peacemakers..." These are the words of Christ and ones you have quoted in your ramblings in the local rag. But to build bridges, forster unity and proclaim peace there must be unrest and divide. Alas, the interfaith seperatists and the local leaders who live not in the community but decry what is defecient in it. Ponder such things! Selah.
Searching for local ministries and ministerium I found your INTERFAITH blog. Surprising that Lompoc now only has four churches represented in its association. As a pastor Lutheran pastor in the Santa Ynez Valley, I am amazed at this lack of participation from the other churches or possibly you only have links to those with website capabilities. Several years ago we had a one day retreat with the pastors from Santa Ynez Valley, Buellton, Lompoc and a few Chaplains from the base. It was a wonderful time. I will pray for unity and health to some how be restored to the church fellowships in Lompoc. I find this very odd.

Having read your articles in the paper I have stumbled upon this blog space. As a Hindu I would not want to sit with religious leaders who are in disunity with their own brethren. Reading the string of comments here it is apparent and bright that you are in discord with your own kind. I would not want your "center left" to be imparted to me. In Hindu belief, we must not fellowship with those in discord and strife. Though we differ in faith one must be centered and stabble in love, faith and protocol. Chaka Penni ah Ala Chaka Penni.
Chaka Pah Neh wrote in response to the comments to this site concerning the apparent disunity. I would say that this is more apparent than real. If there are walls being erected, I've not erected them. I've simply tried to provide another opportunity for the religious community to come together and discuss important issues. Lompoc Interfaith is not in competition with the Lompoc Valley Ministerial Association. I've attended their meetings on occasion and others who participate in the group have as well. LVMA however is strictly a Christian organization, while Lompoc Interfaith seeks to be involved in a broader conversation. I don't see why this need to be mutually exclusive activities. The reason why there are only a few groups listed is several fold, but mostly its because we're new, we're small, and we're just getting things going. But everyone's welcome.
I am sure the meeting was filled with the assessment of issues, the vastness of faith and the discussions of bridgebuilding unification. Hoppy.
