Interfaith means all faiths and all those OF FAITH. Question: Why has Bob Cornwell deemed himself the leader of the interfaith group and has brought confusion to city leaders, hospital officials and others. They believe he might represent the ministerial group of Lompoc but rather in his quest for interfaith he chooses to obstain from the majority of their activities. Something to consider Dr. Cornwell, have you invited the various church leaders in town to attend your interfaith group? Are they aware of your crusade to build bridges? I guess they are, if like me they took the time to read your 'public square' piece in the paper. Ah, alas, it is not public but only for a select group. You should invite all of faith, the First Christian, the Southern Christian and the Second Chrisitan - Baptist, Buddhist, Muslum, Jew, Assembly of God, Presbyterian and Matt Hughes. Matt has faith in no god at all and thus he is of faith.
Build the bridge by starting with you. Shalom.

I am additionally confused. Is Rev. Cornwell on the writing staff of the Lompoc Record and why are they promoting him by hosting a forum at the Public Library? Religion in the Public Square is not to be Religion in the City / Government Library. Religious discussion has no place in the library paid for by taxation of the people of Lompoc.

On the question of the forum. The gallery is rented out to any community group and therefore First Christian Church has paid a rental fee. This is the same principle that schools and any public building rents space to any group, religious or otherwise.

As for my relationship with the paper. I am not on the staff of the paper (My last name, by the way, is Cornwall). Their support of the forum is simply that of promoting someone writing for the paper. I am a free-lance columnist, and at this time I'm not paid.

I hope this clarifies the relationship.

Thanks for the clarification. So a public building can be rented for religious purposes and a religious building can be rented for public purposes. This makes sense. I noticed you did not reply to the first COMMENT. So, I too am confused. Are you connected with the Lompoc pastors and are they invited to the interfaith meetings?
Within Protestants there are many views such as Baptism, Communion, Style, Worship, Liturgy, Speaking in Tongues, Healing, Salvation through Jesus Only and on and on.
Thanks for the clarification, I won't bother you with my concerns about the group you are attempted to build and I did get your name Cornwall. I simply copied from the name used in the first post.

To religion and state separation:

Thank you for asking the clarification question. The group I'm helping form is open to anyone who wishes to come - and that would include a Humanist/atheist as long as they're comfortable in a conversation that is religious in nature (even if at times it's diverse in nature). So, when the first respondent asked if Matt Hughes is welcome, my answer is yes. The goal is to build bridges of understanding.

As far as my involvement with the Lompoc Valley Ministerial Association, yes I've attended some meetings. I would say that it is more of a conservative Christian group(and that's my feel and may not be the way everyone feels), and I'm a center/left Mainline Protestant (though I have strong evangelical roots). This newer group sprung from conversations I had with several Mainline Pastors, all of whom felt as I did that we needed something broader, something that could include Jews,Muslims, Bahai, Mormons, as well as Assemblies and Presbyterians and everyone else who felt inclined to join in the journey. Again, I hope this helps.

god BLESS america or should I use lower case on BLESS too since we don't want to confuse a blessing with a religious process?
