The Ken Boyd Candidates Forum will feature all six Lompoc City Council Candidates in a forum sponsored by First Presbyterian Church and First Christian Church. The event will be held November 1, the Wednesday prior to the election, at 7:00 P.M. at First Presbyterian Church.
The event will be hosted by Rev. Julia Leeth, Pastor of First Presbyterian Church and moderated by
Rev. Dr. Bob Cornwall, Pastor of First Christian Church and columnist for the Lompoc Record -- "Faith in the Public Square"
The candidates will be given the opportunity to answer questions provided by the two congregations and share their vision for Lompoc. Please come and consider carefully their answers before you vote.
Ken Boyd was Pastor for many years at First Presbyterian Church and during those years he would often host forums for candidates that were fair, balanced, and safe. This forum seeks to be in that tradition.

Seeing how Julia is fairly new to Lompoc as you are. Are you certain of what the issues are facing the City of Lompoc? Both your congregations have residents in them and they will have their issues and views. Are you going public with this forum or is it simply the two congregations? Is it interfaith then will all faiths get written invitation or just your group and brand of faith?
I am saddened to find this link on my computer. Ken Boyd was a dear pastor and friend to all pastors. He would welcome each pastor as they came to town. During his season at our church we were a growing and vibrant congregation. During the last few years we have diminished in size, vision and compassion. Some older members have died, some have moved away. Ken Boyd would be saddened by the approach you are taking. He was organizer of many of the community church functions and embraced all. In your quest to unite you have become seperatists. Unity is a result of building bridges to all and reaching out to all and not by dividing and united with others who have themselves divided. Ken Boyd would not want his name associatted with your brand of unification. Think about these things. My son posted the last message and I now must post this.
I would like to clarify the issue of the Ken Boyd Forum. I was asked to put together a forum for candidates, using Ken Boyd as a model. I approached my elders, who liked the idea and suggested we invite First Presbyterian Church to participate. Which we did. We also approached Ken's daughter and she was thrilled that we're doing this in his name. I have no political agenda in this, and neither does Pastor Julia. All we're doing is offering an opportunity to the entire community to come and meet the candidates and hear how they intend to serve the people of Lompoc. I hope that this is helpful. I'm quite saddened by the accusations made against me and am not sure where they come from.
